A Sudanese village now has its own clean water supply, thanks to Penny Appeal. Nearly 175 families - about 1,000 people in total - in the village of Nukarah Barnu have access to drinking water via a hand pump which has been funded by Penny Appeal supporter Chris Marshall.

Mera Apna Ghar (My Own Home), the Penny Appeal-funded orphanage in Sohawa, Pakistan, is expanding! On opening in January of this year, it was home to just six children. Now, six months later, the Mera Apna Ghar family boasts 16 children aged 4 to 14.

Penny Appeal is delighted to announce its partnership with Plan UK in a project to protect the children of Haiti, many of whom were orphaned and displaced following the Haiti earthquake in January 2010.

A 13-strong team of "Team Penny Appeal" runners completed the Wakefield Hospice 10k road race on Sunday 15th April in aid of the charity's Clean Water Appeal.
