One of Penny Appeal’s most dedicated volunteers has raised almost £30,000 for victims of the recent Pakistan floods by running four major marathons (and five other long-distance races) – for a total of 150 miles.
Penny Appeal spent Saturday night at the free Thornes Park Community Firework Display organised by Wakefield Council, and it was amazing! We had so much fun giving out tea and biscuits to local residents, chatting with friends old and new, and watching the fireworks light up the sky. We even gained some new followers from the event!
The blessed month of Rabi Al Awwal is the third month of the Islamic calendar and holds immense significance and importance. This month saw the most miraculous events unfold including the birth of our beloved Prophet (ﷺ), the Hijrah of our noble Prophet (ﷺ) when he emigrated from Makkah to Madinah, and finally the death of our Prophet (ﷺ). These three auspicious events are commemorated during this sacred month.
Today is International Literacy Day, and we're celebrating the importance of literacy as a matter of dignity and human rights.
