Ready, set, PEDAL!
Join #TeamOrange and 15,000 other riders on Sunday 24th September for the brand new Velo Birmingham challenge. This bicycle race takes place on one of the UK's most exciting new cycle routes, covering 100 miles on entirely closed roads.
Registration Fee: £40
Minimum Sponsorship: £600 (price of two water wells)
This epic challenge will raise funds for our Thirst Relief appeal, where we provide safe and sustainable water sources for people living in poverty. What could be more fulfilling than crossing the finish line in a blaze of glory, after covering 100 miles of Worcestershire and Herefordshire countryside and Birmingham cityscape?
Prepare for the ride of a lifetime
While we encourage cyclists of all abilities to sign up, the Vélo is a serious challenge and a good training plan is essential. With the correct training and preparation you will be able to complete this challenge. Find training advance on the official Velo Birmingham website.
Get your fundraising off to a flying start by setting up your own JustGiving page to take online donations, which will be sent straight to Penny Appeal. You can also join our JustGiving team for an extra dose of support! You can also make the most of your fundraising and training efforts by sharing your story on social media. Don't forget to tag @teamorangepa for shares!
Secure the future of a community
With your £600 fundraising sponsorship we will be able to build two wells for communities in Bangladesh, India, Nepal or Pakistan. The wells will be built in your name or the name of a loved one. By providing clean water to a community we can save lives that may otherwise have been lost due to drinking dirty water. You will also secure the prosperity for the entire community by providing a reliable supply of water with which to wash, cook, make wudu, irrigate crops and water livestock.
If you're up for a real challenge, set yourself a higher fundraising target to build more wells.
- £1200 for four wells.
- £4,000 for a Deep Water Well - these special deep wells and are essential in arid regions where groundwater is found much further underground. Find out more.
