Refugee Emergency Shelter in Kos
After a terrifying sea crossing in a flimsy boat, stepping onto dry land should be a relief. But for refugees arriving on the Greek island of Kos their perilous journey is far from over.
You can help them by supporting our Refugee Emergency Shelter project to provide vulnerable women and children with somewhere safe and warm to sleep, and something hot and nutritious to eat.
Refugees must register with the authorities before they can take the ferry to mainland Europe, a process which can take several days.
During that time they have nowhere to go and little support while they wait. Forced to spend every hour outdoors, they have to battle with the cold temperatures and wet weather to get some sleep. Already exhausted and hungry, they need to get some rest where it is dry and warm and hot, nutritious food to fuel their bodies ready for the next long walk.
This is a scary and dangerous time, particularly for women and children, but you can change that by supporting the Refugee Emergency Shelter project.
Donate £50 now to give a refugee family a warm bed and a hot, nutritious meal each for up to two nights.
The chance to stay in a basic hotel room with their loved ones, where they can shower and get a good night’s sleep, then go for a hot lunch, gives refugees the strength and determination to continue their difficult journey towards brighter futures. Your donation can make a massive difference, please give now.
